February 29-March 4

Writing
This week in writing, students will use a variety of mentor texts to inspire them as they create their own short poems using rhyme, rhythm, repetition, and alliteration!

Reading
This week in reading we are continuing our unit on poetry and sensory language.
Students will make inferences and draw conclusions about the structure and elements of poetry. We will learn how rhyme, rhythm, and repetition interact to create images in poetry.  Students will be introduced to a fun variety of poetry from famous poets!

Math
We will be wrapping up boot camp and moving on to 4 digit place value. We will be going over numbers into the thousands with addition and subtraction.  We will also be reviewing skills we have covered so far this year in math.

Support our classroom learning by having your child complete these in IXL:

Science and Social Studies:
We will be finishing up weather and water cycle this week in science.  We will add our weather and water onto our maps of our countries and then these will be displayed in our hallway.  At the end of the week we will have a visit from Dowser Dan about the water cycle and water conservation.

Research question of the week:
Research water conservation and write 5 ways they could save water.

Reminders:
Wednesday March 2nd – Early Release Day
Monday March 14th-Friday March 17th is Spring Break.
Friday March 25th – Holiday No school
