February 22-26

Writing
This week in writing, we will study and analyze poems with rhythm, rhyme, and repetition. We will use a variety of mentor texts to help us create our own short poems!

Reading
This week in reading we are beginning a new unit on poetry and sensory language. Students will make inferences and draw conclusions about how an author's sensory language creates imagery in text. Students will be introduced to the meaning of sensory language and list examples.  We will read examples of sensory language in several beautifully written stories. As we read, students will learn that sensory language allows us the opportunity to create mental images

Math
Boot Camp continues this week as we continue to learn more about multi-step problems. We will play a game where we have to solve clues to find where the enemy is hiding. Toward to end of the week, we will take an assessment to see if we have mastered multi-step problems. On Friday, soldiers will have a graduation ceremony where we celebrate all of our achievements!

Science and Social Studies:
This week we will be learning about weather.  We will be studying patterns in weather and looking at how weather changes over time.  We will pretend to be weather news forecasters and give a prediction on the weather for the coming week!  This is a fun week with lots of wild weather!

Research question of the week:
Research hurricanes or tornadoes and present facts about them!

Reminders:
Wednesday, February 24th- Engineering Day!
Thursday Feb. 25th- Talent Show (6-7 at Canyon Vista)
